Waterfalls
Two fabulous waterfalls are within three miles of Langdon Beck Hotel. Cauldron Snout (above) and High Force waterfalls can both be reached via maintained paths, or more demanding walks if you prefer.

Situated less than a kilometer from the Pennine Way it’s the ideal location for long
distance walkers and day walkers alike. There are a number of circular walks from
the hotel as well as those linking to the spectacular views of High Cup Nick, or
meandering along the river down to Middleton-
Bird watching
The fields in the vicinity of Langdon Beck are some of the best in the North Pennines
for seeing Black Grouse -
Geology
The North Pennines have also been designated as Britain’s first European Geopark.
The hotel offers a fabulous base to explore the many features of this unusual area

Flowers
The Spring Gentian, is so rare that it is found only in Upper Teesdale on mainland Britain. Even the less rare plants put on a stunning show, as a field ablaze with Globe flowers, or a hay meadow in full bloom can prove.
Cycling
Many cyclists find the challenging terrain of Upper Teesdale ideal. With less traffic the open roads are perfect for getting away from the pressures of town. Why not make Langdon Beck Hotel your stopover? A warming bowl of soup, or just the chance to catch your breath!
Star Gazing
Teesdale is a true dark sky area with Dark Sky Discovery Site recognition. Indeed of the 71 recognised sites no less than six of them are in Teesdale with Cow Green reservoir, just three miles away, being added recently.
